Indeed, in many ways, it seems like the best of times.

Gay Marriage Amendment on November Ballot - California voters will decide in November whether to amend the state constitution to limit marriage to unions between men and women and thereby reverse the state's recent Supreme Court decision. The California Secretary of State said on Monday that the proposal would appear on the November 4 ballot. A simple majority is sufficient to amend the state constitution.
California Supreme Court Overturns Gay Marriage Ban - California's Supreme Court has overturned the state's ban on gay marriage, effectively leaving same-sex couples in America's most populous state free to tie the knot. Experts say the court's decision could have nationwide implications.
1 in 10 Boomers Borrow For Everyday Expenses - The economic downturn is hitting roughly one in 10 middle-aged and older Americans especially hard, compelling them to borrow money for everyday living expenses and to seek help from family, friends or charities, according to a survey released Tuesday by the AARP.
$200 Oil Could Happen This Year - A Goldman Sachs analyst on Tuesday predicted that oil prices could reach $150 to $200 a barrel over the next 6 months to two years, but said that how far prices could climb still "remains a major uncertainty." Oil for June delivery hit a record of more than $120 a barrel Tuesday in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Home Foreclosure Rate Continues Ugly Climb - The number of US homes heading toward foreclosure more than doubled in the first quarter from a year earlier, as weakening property values and tighter lending left many homeowners powerless to prevent homes from being auctioned to the highest bidder. Among the hardest hit states were Nevada, Florida and California.
